Pakistan
Pakistan is one of the Asian countries in which gender discrimination is so common. Girls are not expected to have any power whether it is in her family or workplace. Some other Asian countries facing similar conditions include India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Iran
The quote above was stated by Dr. Qazi Wasiq, the general secretary of Karachi, Pakistan at a press conference regarding the issue of women's health. This conference was held on Monday, June 22 at the Karachi Press Club in Karachi, Pakistan. It has been stated that women are at a higher risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer because they are not seeking the medical care needed. One of the issues is that there are not enough female doctors to provide preventative care. This also relates to the status of women in Pakistan because women are expected to be married as soon as they finish their studies. After marriage, it becomes impossible to pursue a career because of household duties. Dr. Wasiq also mentioned that women's rights should be issued to them. Gender inequality is one of the main barriers that prevents women from entering the workforce. Some girls are not even allowed to choose if they want to continue their education.
